Evas Quartet

Eva Català & Eva Serrano

Evas 4tet is an original jazz project born from the powerful rhythmic foundation of bassist Eva Serrano and drummer/percussionist Eva Català. A strong affinity and their collaboration as a rhythm section in multiple national and international projects over the past five years have led them to refine a form of expression that remains true to their sound and generation, as revealed in this project.

Together with Víctor Jiménez (alto sax) and the pianist and synthesist Pablo Rizo, the project not only reflects their personal evolution: it becomes a space for exploring new sonic territories, intertwining the diverse musical backgrounds of the quartet’s members. The repertoire is approached from an emotional perspective, building a language that seeks to create a shared space between performers and audience, celebrating joy, complicity, and freedom both on stage and in the seats.

About Eva Català.

Eva Català, drummer, percussionist, and vibraphonist, is considered one of the most promising emerging voices in the jazz and world music scene in Spain. Born in Valencia in 1998, Eva began collaborating from a very young age with numerous national and international projects, performing at world-renowned festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Festival Jazzaldia (Spain), Festival Jazz Plaza (Cuba), Festival de Jazz Eurovenezolano (Venezuela), JazzMadrid (Spain), and La Rochelle Jazz Festival (France), among others, as well as contributing to numerous recordings across different musical styles.

Thanks to these experiences, she has worked with leading jazz figures such as Perico Sambeat, Paquito D’Rivera, Álex Conde, Juan Munguía, Sole Giménez, and Yoel Páez, the latter being her mentor since adolescence. This artistic development led to the creation of her two own projects: Eva Català Group and Evas Quartet, the latter alongside double bassist Eva Serrano.

In parallel with her career in jazz, she has toured and recorded with the bands of internationally renowned artists. She currently works as a percussionist, drummer, and vibraphonist with Jorge Drexler on the international tour of his latest album Taracá, with whom she also recorded the music video for the song Toco madera.

Regarding her education, Eva has received various scholarships and institutional support that have allowed her to collaborate with prestigious institutions such as Berklee College of Music, where she graduated with a master’s degree in 2022, after studying at the Conservatorio Superior de València and Codarts University of Performing Arts in Rotterdam (Netherlands). She is also a member of Sedajazz, one of the oldest and most active jazz collectives in Spain, where she began her training in this music. Among her recognitions are the jazz artist residency at Centro Condeduque (Madrid) in 2023 and the prestigious AIE Scholarship for advanced studies abroad. Since 2024, Eva has also been an official artist of the instrument brand Meinl Percussion, alongside a select group of internationally recognized artists.
