Biography
Eva Català, drummer, percussionist, and vibraphonist, is considered one of the most promising emerging voices in the jazz and world music scene in Spain. Born in Valencia in 1998, Eva began collaborating from a very young age with numerous national and international projects, performing at world-renowned festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Festival Jazzaldia (Spain), Festival Jazz Plaza (Cuba), Festival de Jazz Eurovenezolano (Venezuela), JazzMadrid (Spain), and La Rochelle Jazz Festival (France), among others, as well as contributing to numerous recordings across different musical styles. Through these opportunities, she has worked with major jazz figures such as Perico Sambeat, Paquito D’Rivera, Álex Conde, Juan Munguía, Javier Vercher, Víctor Mendoza, and Yoel Páez, the latter being her mentor since adolescence.
She also performs as an instrumentalist in the bands of well-known Spanish pop artists, participating in tours that include festivals like Sonorama Ribera and Festival Río Babel. In 2024, as her career evolved, she became an official Meinl Percussion artist, joining a select group of internationally recognized percussionists.

Eva has received various scholarships and institutional support to collaborate with prestigious institutions such as Berklee College of Music, where she earned a master’s degree in 2022. Among her accolades are the jazz artist residency at Centro Condeduque (Madrid) in 2023, being a finalist in the Focus Year 2023 auditions in Basel (Switzerland), and receiving the prestigious AIE Scholarship for advanced studies abroad.

This combination of academic training and stage experience has led Eva to develop a unique sound as a composer and instrumentalist, bridging the gap between modern jazz, folk music, and contemporary approaches to classical music.
