Eva Català Group

World Collective

The quartet led by young drummer and percussionist Eva Català emerges from a continuous exploration of her artistic identity. Focused on modern jazz as its central axis, this original project seeks to integrate new ideas inspired by her recent move to Madrid with the diversity of prior influences that shape her musical language. Born after being selected at the Centro Condeduque's Jazz Residency in Madrid, it was premiered at the Madrid Jazz Festival in 2023.

The proposal not only reflects Eva's personal evolution but also becomes a space for the development of new sonic territories, intertwining the diverse musical universes of the group members. The music is approached with an emotional focus, creating a language that connects people in a shared space of introspection and collective expression.

About Eva.

Eva Català is a drummer, percussionist, and composer, regarded as one of the most promising emerging voices on the jazz and world music scene in Spain. Born in València in 1998, Eva began collaborating at an early age with numerous national and international projects, performing at world-renowned festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Jazzaldia Festival (Spain), Jazz Plaza Festival (Cuba), Festival Eurovenezolano de Jazz (Venezuela), JazzMadrid (Spain), and La Rochelle Jazz Festival (France), among others.

Thanks to these opportunities, she has shared the stage with some of the leading figures in Spanish jazz, including Perico Sambeat, Paquito D’Rivera, Juan Munguía, Alex Conde, Javier Vercher, Víctor Mendoza, and Yoel Páez. She also performs as a touring instrumentalist with prominent Spanish pop artists, playing at major festivals such as Sonorama Ribera and Festival Río Babel, among others. As her career continues to evolve, she became an official artist for Meinl Percussion in 2024, joining a select group of internationally recognized percussionists..

Eva has received various scholarships and grants to collaborate with prestigious institutions such as Berklee College of Music, where she earned a master’s degree in 2022. Her accolades include the 2023 Jazz Artistic Residency at Centro Condeduque (Madrid), being a finalist in the 2023 Focus Year program auditions in Basel (Switzerland), and receiving the prestigious AIE Scholarship for advanced studies abroad.

This combination of education and performance experience has led Eva to find a unique sound as a composer, arranger, and percussionist, narrowing the gap between modern jazz, latin music, and contemporary classical approaches. Ultimately, Eva´s love for music is built on her vision of traversing cultural and social boundaries through the artform. She believes strongly that music is a tool which can be utilized to overcome the deep divides found in our society, and to lay the foundations for a stronger community.
